On the 13th of September 2023 the law firm was represented by Andria Kouloumi at the LISW23 Headline Conference, as the key event of the London International Shipping Week.
More than 600 participants attended the conference the agenda of which was entitled as “Reframing Risk in a Complex Market”. The conference was set to “explore, inform and suggest solutions” across entire shipping spectrum.
The conference brought together leaders from outside and within the industry who examined the changing geopolitical and societal landscape, and how this is affecting foreign policy, external commercial decisions, and consumer expectations on the essential cog in the global supply chain – the shipping industry.
During the second session of the conference, a panel of well-reputable experts and other stakeholders also examined and discussed the key internal industry factors that are reframing risk for shipping exploring the market response to environmental regulation, a fragmented and complex trading environment and continued call for greater transparency in the market. The panel addressed and analysed matters such as how must the relationship between charterers and the providers of ocean freight services evolve, what contractual limitations exist, and what innovations will be required to deliver compliance, decarbonisation and improved security.
The final session of the conference provided a vision for the future of the shipping industry. Matters such as what business and technological innovations the market will have to adopt to address the external and internal pressure being placed on the shipping industry while it also examined the role of London and the UK in the industry’s future were also discussed and analysed by a panel of experts and key industry leaders.
