The “Maritime Cyprus” Conference, organised biennially by the Shipping Deputy Ministry in collaboration with the Cyprus Shipping Chamber and the Cyprus Union of Shipowners, has been a flagship event for the global shipping industry since its establishment in 1989. Today, it is regarded as one of the most significant and widely attended maritime conferences in the world, drawing approximately 800 senior shipping executives from around the globe.

This year’s conference was held under the central theme “Unlocking the Future of Shipping”. The event attracted over 1,000 participants from 35 countries, including heads of state, ministers, regulators, shipowners and key industry leaders. The conference reaffirmed Cyprus’s position as a global maritime hub and a vital link between regional and international shipping communities.

The opening ceremony was marked by the presence of high-level dignitaries, including H.E. Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mrs. Marina Hadjimanolis, Shipping Deputy Minister and H.E. Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

The second day of the conference featured insightful discussions on a range of key industry topics, including marine insurance, ship ownership and chartering trends all framed by the overarching theme of future readiness. Panelists and delegates focused on the critical role of cooperation, innovation and long-term strategic thinking in navigating a constantly evolving landscape shaped by regulatory, geopolitical and economic challenges.

On its third and final day, the conference explored themes related to maritime safety, climate resilience, and the emerging technologies and partnerships that will shape the next decade of global shipping.

The strong presence of Michael Kyprianou Law Firm at “Maritime Cyprus 2025” Conference reflects our ongoing commitment to the shipping industry and our dedication to remaining at the forefront of legal developments in this dynamic and ever-evolving sector.
