Maria obtained a Law Degree (LLB) from the University of Cyprus with Distinction (equivalent to First Class Honours) in 2018.

She also obtained a General Master of Laws (LLM) in 2019 from the University of Edinburgh which focused on Company Law, EU Competition Law and Intellectual Property Law.

Maria is a member of both the Cyprus Bar Association and the Limassol Bar Association, and has been a qualified lawyer since 2020. She is currently an associate in the banking and finance department in Michael Kyprianou & Co’s Limassol office and advises local and international clients on matters such as corporate and project finance, security agreements and regulatory requirements. She is also involved in corporate restructurings and M&A, which enables her to advise on any local corporate matters that may arise in a project financing deal.

In 2020, Maria Georgiou was invited among others by The Chambers Global Practice Guide to be the exclusive contributor of the Law and Practice sections of the Cyprus chapter on Project Finance.
