The Wills and Succession Law, Cap. 195, was amended with the enactment of law 96(I)/2015 on July 3rd 2015. The two most important changes brought about by the enactment are:
- The enactment of Article 23A which provides that the Court has the discretion to overlook or amend any grammatical or numeric errors in a will, provided that the Court has been presented with persuasive evidence by an interested party and has considered it equitable under the circumstances to rectify the error or omission in question.
- The repeal of Article 42 which used to provide that any alien was free to dispose their property as they wished. By repealing this Article the same provisions that apply to Cypriot citizens, i.e. Legal Portion, now apply to aliens.
