Marina Hadjisoteriou attended the 2nd Annual IBA Asset Recovery Conference in Madrid, Spain

Marina Hadjisoteriou, Partner and Head of the Limassol Dispute Resolution Department, attended the 2nd Annual IBA Asset Recovery Conference that took place during 4-6 December 2024 in Madrid, Spain.

The theme of this year’s conference was “Tackling and conquering impediments to asset recovery”. Topics included the following:

  • Tackling and conquering common (and uncommon) defences raised in attempts to defeat asset recovery strategies and proceedings
  • Tracing, preserving and recovering unique and difficult classes of assets: spotlight on maritime issues in asset recovery
  • Targeting professional service providers who are the architects of asset protection and concealment models
  • The ongoing impact of sanctions on enforcement
  • Leveraging insolvency tools in asset recovery: different countries’ approaches to transactions at undervalue
  • Assisting victims of small(er) scale fraud and corruption
  • The role of regulators in asset recovery
  • Experiences of direct asset recovery via Article 53 of the United Nations Convention on Corruption
