In an effort to further attract more skilled professionals in Cyprus, a new Decree has been issued by the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance on the 19th of December 2024.
The Decree (Κ.Δ.Π. 456/2024) provides for the employment of highly qualified personnel coming from non European Union countries. Such highly qualified personnel is defined by the Decree as professionals belonging to the sectors of (a) information and communication technologies (ICT), (b) pharmacy for research purposes and (c) maritime (excluding captains and ship’s crew).
It is noted that there is no limitation to the maximum number of employment positions.
The Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, with the Decree Κ.Δ.Π. 457/2024 has also defined the minimum gross annual salary for highly qualified employment at EUR 43,632.
