Given the crucial role of Regulation (EU) No 650/2012 on jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition and enforcement of decisions and acceptance and enforcement of authentic instruments in matters of succession and on the creation of a European Certificate of Succession, Michael Kyprianou & Co LLC will organize on 17/6/2020 at 17:00 an introductory webinar to the Regulation in relation to the topics of international jurisdiction and the applicable law involved in a cross-border inheritance case.
The aim of the presentation is to give participants, without any need of prior knowledge on their part of the actual contents of the Regulation, an introduction as simple as possible to the potential uses of the Regulation with suggestions as to its practical application in the implementation of its provisions in Cyprus and with particular focus on the chapters which cover international jurisdiction and the applicable law in the field of inheritance.
The seminar will be presented by Mr. Manthos Mattheou, a retired former Senior District Judge who is currently working as Special Counsel at Michael Kyprianou & Co LLC, while simultaneously teaching the topics of the Law of Succession and Tort law as a visiting academician at Neapolis University of Paphos.
