The annual conference of the International Bar Association took place on October 29th until November 3rd, 2023 in Paris.
Marina Hadjisoteriou, Partner and Head of the firm’s Limassol Dispute Resolution Department, attended the conference, which included keynote speakers such as Christopher Stephens of the World Bank Group, AI Advisor Zack Kass, and former President of Poland and Nobel Peace Prize Winner (1983) Lech Wałęsa.
For the 75th year IBA brought together people from around the world to discuss, support and advance legal reform and social justice. Topics discussed during the conference included artificial intelligence (AI), environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues and their impact on law firm’s work for clients, promoting and defending the rule of law, whilst also looking at a growing challenge in the legal sector: talent attraction and retention.
For the first time in two decades, the event was held under the presidency of a woman, Almudena Arpón de Mendívil, who is aiming to highlight the legal profession’s contribution to society over the coming years and also chaired the IBA Showcase session titled: The new female leadership of law firms: a game changer?
The International Bar Association (IBA) Annual Conference is the leading conference for legal professionals worldwide.
Established in 1947, IBA serves to advance the development of international law and its role in business and society to provide members with world-class professional development opportunities to enable them to deliver outstanding legal services.
