European Commission – UK: Brexit - GDPR Adequacy Decision

The European Commission has on the 28th of June 2021 issued the long-awaited adequacy decisions in respect of the transfer of personal data to the United Kingdom. According to the decisions taken in respect of the General Data Protection Regulation and the Law Enforcement Directive, the European Commission has identified that the UK has in place adequate measures along with the relevant legal regime and framework for the purposes of protection of personal data.

This in effect means that there is no need to adopt any additional safeguards or requirements when transferring data from the EU to the UK.
