The Department of Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver (‘DRCOR’) along with the European Union Intellectual Property Network (‘EUIPN’) have published on 23/4/20 a joint announcement in relation to the conformity and communication that has been achieved to the member states level in respect of the types, definitions of TMs and accepted representations for non-traditional TMs for each Office and Directive 2015/2436. This is a step towards the abolition of the graphical representation prerequisite for Trademark registration and the acceptance of non-traditional TMs such as scents, sounds and motions. Cyprus has announced that it will be ready to accept MP3, MP4 and JPEG type of files.
