Ship arrest

Vessels are a moving asset. In cases where a seagoing vessel constitutes the asset at stake of a breach and/or security, the remedy available as to the asset is to file an arrest claim in order to enforce a judgement/arbitration award. An arrest claim can be filed internationally, for a vessel to be arrested upon arrival at the port of calling. A ship arrest claim can have its basis on an exhaustive list of the grounds, among which maritime liens, non-payment of mortgage etc.

Having represented shipowners, managers, charterer’s suppliers and financiers in these types of claims, our expert team can provide professional legal advice to clients in respect to issues arising from occurrence of such events, depending on the nature of each case and the party represented.
