Michael Kyprianou & Co. LLC proudly announces that our Global Head of Shipping, Gina Panayiotou, has been elected to the Board of WISTA Cyprus (Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association), at the associations 6th AGM held yesterday, 29th of November, 2018, at the Columbia Plaza, in Limassol.
Gina has been an active member of WISTA Cyprus since 2014 when she joined the association, serving also as first elected Young Board Affiliate in 2017, while she is responsible for the online communications and press matters in respect of promoting the association.
Gina stated in her speech that: “I find it quite remarkable that WISTA began in 1974 with a small group of women, and today it counts more than 3000 members from 44 countries around the world and has recently also obtained a consultative status with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) - Hard work, and collaboration, pays off. - Each of us is capable of doing amazing things, and together we can “move the world.”
Gina is a highly qualified legal professional, with experience from the core shipping industry, having served as Legal Manager of a ship-owning company for several years. She specializes in shipping, maritime, commercial law and legal strategy. Gina was awarded the first “Young Leader Award,” in Cyprus and has been selected among the top 100 lawyers of the GC Powerlist 2018: Greece and Cyprus, by Legal 500,while she has also sat on the Legal, as well as the Development and Promotion committees of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber
